While I agree that this is Great Novel, it definitely would have benefitted from a fairly severe editing down in size. Several parts of the story seemed to, unnecessarily, go on forever: Theo making his way out of the museum, Theo and Boris, living their stoner life in Las Vegas, Theo, sick in the hotel in Amsterdam, to name a few.

When a book gets bogged down in detail and repetition, the flow of the story can become hard to follow. This novel is 771 pages. I'm thinking 625-650 would have been just about right.  Check Library Catalog

This was a very good suspense novel that turned out to mention places in my childhood neighborhood in Flushing, Queens. The main character, Kat, grew up in Flushing and went to St. Mary's school (my alma mater). The author got a few things wrong, of course. Based on where she grew up in Flushing, Kat would have gone to St. Mels or St. Andrews, not St. Mary's.

Despite that small incongruity, Missing You is a solid suspense story. The bad guys were fairly one dimensional, but overall the characters were interesting and the storyline entertaining.  Check Library Catalog

Stassi goes back to the future....

And it is glorious. Except when it isn't.

In this sequel to The Syndicate (aka one of my favorite books last year) Stassi is back to the future, her present, only to be confronted by her past. Confused yet? Welcome to time travel.

This is a gorgeous and thrilling future, full of accessible tech used in fabulous ways, and we get to see Stassi take advantage of it. We also get a closer look at the life that could have been hers, in the less glamorous dystopian parts of this post apocalyptic future, if she hadn't met Cyrus and become a runner.

This was a wonderful follow up to the first book, where we discover a more vulnerable side to Stassi while still getting to enjoy her signature quips.   Check Library Catalog
