Description:
Philip Skene was on course to become one of the prominent citizens of New York. Returning from Britain as the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Forts of Ticonderoga and Crown Point in 1775, he already owned tens of thousands of acres around present-day Whitehall, NY. The events of the American Revolution would forever alter his fortunes. In August 1777, when Lt. Col. Baum was ordered by General Burgoyne to march to Bennington, Skene would accompany him as a follower of the British army. Join Historian David Pitlyk as he examines Skene and one of the defining moments of his life, the Battle of Bennington.
