The ending has a twist which I definitely was not expecting. This is a story about a man desperate to find happiness outside his bleak marriage. Edith Wharton wrote it in 1911, but it's still worth reading.

This is a twisted story about a young girl from Kentucky who moves overseas indefinitely after her childhood love and their group of friends go to jail for stealing objects from the local manor house, after she put them up to it. The story unravels after she learns that the boys have gotten out of jail - and are probably looking for her. The ending is happy with a twinge of irony, I thought the ending was well planned out.

I did not like this book. It jumps all over the place. It is hard to keep track of the story and many characters are explained which does not make the story flow. I would not recommend it.
