This book is about a group of friends named Percy Jackson, Hazel Levesque, and Frank Zhang as their adventure to free the Greek God of death, Thanatos, to make it possible to kill the evil misanthropic, sociopathic, and just plain evil monsters and giants. At first, the book is extremely well paced, with plenty of surprise. If you read the Percy Jackson series, you will know who the first of these characters is. Hazel has the most interesting backstory out of the prophecy's group if you have read the Percy Jackson series. However, Frank was learning who he was this book. He has the coolest ancestry and powers. You can almost feel like you are in the book and you can see him as a child in your mind's eye. The middle of the book also has quite a few interesting surprises. You learn the secrets here and there is a lot of exploration, death, and death threats. The ending is good for a novel of its kind and thoroughly wraps up the book, while leaving you waiting for the next one. It is an interesting cliffhanger and foreshadows that something will go wrong. If you reread the book, you see hints about the past of the characters that you didn’t notice before. I like to reread it and see how many hints I could find. My favorite part was when they met Octavian. I like how they made him a villain who was not physically powerful, but mentally. The team’s powers are very interesting and I find them to be a well-balanced and powerful team. This book is very well paced, surprising, and is long….ish. It is 513 pages. It is definitely a great read.
