When the brother of a Norwegian chief inspector goes missing in upstate New York, she comes to America to find him. What she does not know is that her brother is implicated in the death of a fellow college professor who is African American and his lover. This novel is a different crime novel because it offers insight into American society and how we view ourselves vs how Europeans view themselves. It also shows the different techniques used between American police and European police to solve a crime. The author has written also a book Norwegian By Night which I am looking forward to reading.  American by Day

The female killer is released from prison and becomes a private investigator. The cop becomes her partner and together they try to solve the murder of a famous writer . Unknown to each they try to seek the truth about the crimes that they have alleged to have committed. This was a fast paced book. It is well written. The book is suspenseful to the last page.  Crimson Lake

One of my favorite books in high school was The Good Earth by Buck. A truly interesting story of Jewish communities located in China for many centuries. This novel is based on true facts and teaches the importance of tolerance to foreigners and the assimilation of differing cultures. (335 pages)  Peony

This is the first in series of novels about Freida Klein , a psychotherapist. Freida works with the police when one of her clients tells her some information that could be about a missing boy. She is a strong female character, with odd traits. The author is just beginning to flesh out her character. Hopefully this continues in the rest of the series novels.   Blue Monday

A great summer read! If you have read other novels by Amanda Quick, this one follows the same plot line: A strong female character in trouble, with a strong male character helping her. The characters fall in love by the end of the novel and have resolved their problems.  The Other Lady Vanishes
